As a volunteer you can donate your time, knowledge, skills and experience free of charge for disadvantaged fellow human beings in the Canton of Zurich and help secure social cohesion.
At the same time, by making a social commitment, you will also encourage your own personal and perhaps professional future development. During your work you will have enriching encounters, get to know other ways of life, learn to face challenges and in so doing also learn a lot for your own life.

Most volunteer work within the Swiss Red Cross Canton of Zurich relies on a good knowledge of the German language. We accompany people in their everyday life (finding their way after moving to Switzerland, learning German or improving their German skills) so the language is an essential skill to fulfil this role. Sometimes, there are opportunities for contributing to projects if you speak another language, and have little knowledge of German.
